Such an honour and a pleasure to be there from the foundation and creation of the Chicago Vinyl Records label. Tyree Cooper (The Producer, Awesome Supa Dupa Trooper and DJ) is one of the pioneers of the original genres of House Music that emerged from Chicago, the grassroots and foundation one of the genres that shaped and influenced the EDM (Dance Music) that is so huge today.
Behind every label, not just Chicago Vinyl Records, is someone with a clear vision and intention, behind every release is a story and a message, and I can't even put into words the joy when I opened up the package delivered to my home which contained the first releases! The tangible product, in vinyl format, now in existence which was once just an idea posed in a conversation.
From the start (a whisper on twitch) the logo, the brand, the communications with the distributors, the promotional content, remote support, marketing, content, the networking, the hours and hours of phone calls (which were always interesting and lots of laughing and fun)... As I reflect, I still cannot believe I've been a part of this. I truly underestimated my abilities, skills and confidence in myself, and well and truly proved myself wrong.
It is an honour to represent and have the opportunity to work alongside Tyree at Chicago Vinyl Records delivering authentic house music and delivering digital solutions and business intelligence to support my brother (never thought I would find myself saying that!)
I heard someone say when you find your niche, dive deep, get massively curious about it and how it works, learn from others, upskill with the knowledge and wisdom that you need to complete the task, and you'll soon find yourself working without even feeling like it's work. So true!
There may be threats from AI, but one thing is clear to me. It's a tool to assist, but it should never replace human interaction and relationships totally. We all collectively have a responsibility to ensure we question the speed at which it is moving, and how it will affect us. Follow the money they say...
Interpersonal human connection and relationships can never be synthetically created, no matter how hard they try, or tell you it will. Don't allow the emotionless automated management of your business eliminate the true joy that comes from human-to-human connection.
PS don't allow AI to steal your intellectual property and ideas either! Sometimes you gotta refer back to the 'old skool' ways, of pen, paper and one to one connection leaving the tech out of the equation to prevent the inevitable distraction. Questions need to be asked about how the everyday person, just trying to do their thing, is protected. Collectively we have a responsibility to speak up and raise our concerns now before it's too late.
Support independent music and artists, they need you now more than ever. Music is art and is not being protected or respected from what I see.
